A Los Angeles native, Bartley is an LGBTQ+ narrative and commercial filmmaker. He’s an experienced director and producer of traditional commercials, branded content, short form narrative and digital food series. Over the course of his career he’s had the privilege of seamlessly blending time in traditional advertising, television, and the digital food space, all which come together to create a cohesive understanding of audience and client needs alike.

 

Bartley was selected to be a part of the New Directors Showcase for SHOOT magazine thanks to his Airbnb ‘Fort’ spot. On the narrative side, his short film, Hidden Valley Place, premiered at the historic TCL Chinese Theater during the Dances With Films festival in June 2022 and later again with HollyShorts in August 2022.

 

In 2021 Bartley was part of the Ventureland producing team that put on the inaugural season of Rising Voices - an initiative sponsored by Indeed and Lena Waithe's Hillman Grad Productions that gave $1,000,000 to 10 BIPOC filmmakers to create their films about the power of work. All 10 films + a documentary about the process premiered at Tribeca. In 2022 he re-teamed with Ventureland for Rising Voices season 2, which also premiered at Tribeca.

 

Outside of his visual work, Bartley produces and edits the props and film history podcast The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of, hosted by television showrunners Ryan Condal (Game of Thrones prequel, House of The Dragon) and David Mandel (VEEP, Curb Your Enthusiasm).

 

Bartley currently lives in Los Angeles with his husband Jared and their golden retriever Martini (aka Marty).
